RIP Jalal Mansur Nuriddin

Just heard the news today that Jalal Mansur Nuriddin, one of the Last Poets, is dead today at 74 years old. This is a huge blow as he was an incredibly influential artist and activist. A voice for liberation.

To celebrate his vision & massive influence on contemporary music, Music on the One will be playing his seminal 1974 concept album, Hustler's Convention (recorded under the name Lightnin' Rod), featuring musical backup by Kool & the Gang. We'll listen to it in its entirety. Every track.
